This project inquired into how language can be used to express points of view and also inspire and motivate people to take action. It was an excellent opportunity for students of Hindi language acquisition to work on acquiring more complex oral and written communication skills in an interdisciplinary and authentic setting.
In Hindi they were designing and building spaces in collaboration with local interior designers, carpenters and electricians and learnt how to document a Science experiment in Hindi. In Maths they were studying angles and applying their knowledge to build a roof to support solar panels and in Science they were learning about how solar energy works. Students also went on a field trip to Green Ashram in Baroda, Gujarat, to interact with experts from various fields and to understand how solar energy is being implemented on a larger scale in rural India. An exhibition of their models at the German Christmas Market in Mumbai provided them with an authentic audience to share their learning experiences and also motivate our extended community to take action and think green.
