This project that resulted in a published Hindi alliteration book of selected alphabets is a unique example of how classroom studies can be meaningfully integrated with additional languages and visual arts to make learning exciting. A dearth of simple, attractive, colourful and good quality Hindi literature inspired us to embark on the mission to be the change we want to see. To give our 3rd and 4th standard students a context for learning ways in which we enrich Hindi sentences, the idea of writing and illustrating an alliteration book was conceived to help introduce the Hindi alphabet in a fun and creative manner.

The illustrations in this book are the result of months of dedicated study of five traditional tribal art styles from across India. Students learnt about the history and culture surrounding each style before applying their knowledge to illustrate each of these sentences they wrote in Hindi class.

Other trans-disciplinary links included pricing research in Maths, writing letters to publishers to present their manuscript and artwork in Writer's Workshop and making trailers in the technology classroom to advertise and boost sales.

A very motivating letter from the talented actor Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, congratulating them on their achievements was well deserved icing on the cake for the students.
